SHOA Spring News & April Board Meeting Notice 4/20/26
Dear SHOA Members,
Spring Cleaning
Spring is here, and we appreciate your efforts to diligently maintain your property here in Sleepy Hollow. A special thank you goes to those promptly managing weed abatement and clearing at their road and trail easements.
For members with property bordering the trail system, as you complete your initial clearing, please promptly report any obstructions, maintenance needs, or safety concerns to the Board. While our general lake and trail maintenance is typically scheduled for the fall, reporting issues now allows us to address them early.
This is also an excellent time to inspect your fencing and other property elements that may require repair or upkeep, especially in the wake of the recent storm. Your efforts in maintaining the beauty and integrity of our community are appreicated.
Annual Assessments Reminder
Please be reminded that annual assessments were due by March 15. If you are uncertain about your payment status or require payment information, please email us at support@shoanews.org. The Board is actively exploring new, more convenient payment options for next year to address recent feedback regarding the current paper check process.
Upcoming Board Meeting 4/20/26
Our next Board Meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 20, at 6:30 p.m. You are welcome to join us in person at the firehouse on Oakvale Road or virtually via Google Meet:

Waste Management Recycling Reminder
Did you get the following message from Waste Management?
“While providing service on your route today, we identified a high level of contamination from your recycle route.
Please remember that items such as plastic bags, Styrofoam, film plastics, children’s toys and scrap metals DO NOT belong in the recycling cart. We need your help as we continue to make an effort towards cleaning up the recycling waste stream and diverting material from the landfill.
You can refer to our Waste Wizard tool located on our website as well as in the mobile app for clarification on which cart a specific item should be placed in. Additionally, you will find our waste guide attached on our website here.“
Thank you for your continued cooperation in helping maintain our wonderful community.
Sincerely,
The SHOA Board of Directors (shared via member email list 4/15/26))
SHOA ALERT: Storm Update 4/11/26 – Please Use Caution
Dear Residents,
A strong storm cell passed through our area this evening, leaving a significant amount of debris on the roadways.
Several trees were down around the neighborhood and quick-thinking board members have already cleared most of them from the roads. Some trees and branches remain down on private property, so please take a moment to check around your home. At one point, the fire department responded to a call involving a sparking transformer, but all is clear now.
Please continue to use extra caution while moving around the neighborhood tonight. Roadways throughout Shingle Springs are also reported to have debris and blockages.
We’ll assess the full condition of our roads and trails once there’s daylight. In the meantime, stay alert for fallen branches and other potential hazards.
Sincerely,
SHOA Board (also shared via member email list 4/11/26)
Annual Assessments Due 3/16/26
Please remit payment in full by Monday, March 16, 2026 to avoid late fees. Make your check payable to SHOA and mail your check to:
SHOA c/o Karen’s Tax & Financial Services, 415 Placerville Drive Suite D, Placerville, CA 95667
3/3/26 Member Alert
PLEASE READ: Safety Concerns on Sleepy Hollow Trails (Sent via email to all registered members)
Dear Sleepy Hollow Neighbors,
We are writing to you with concerns about recent activity in our neighborhood. Recently, several issues have been brought to our attention by members, and we want everyone to be aware of them:
- Dirt bike or e-bike use on the trails. This is dangerous for both the rider and others using the trails. It can cause property damage and frighten horses and pedestrians. Wheeled vehicles have never been permitted on the Sleepy Hollow trail system.
- The riding of e-bikes, dirt bikes, or quads well above the speed limit. The 25 mph speed limit applies to all who use our roads.
- E-bike or dirt bike riders trespassing onto private property (and in some cases, causing property damage).
We ask all residents to please discuss these concerns with household members and any visitors. Our community guidelines are in place to keep Sleepy Hollow safe, peaceful, and enjoyable for everyone. We are grateful that the vast majority of our members—and their children—follow the rules and enjoy our roads, trails, and lake responsibly. Unfortunately, the actions of a few are creating problems that impact us all.
Please continue to treat your neighbors with kindness and respect as we enjoy these shared resources, and take a moment to talk with your children about safety and courtesy in the neighborhood. If you observe any suspicious activity, please contact the Sheriff’s Office immediately at 911 if the situation is urgent or at the EDSO non-emergency line (530) 621-5655.
Unsafe operations or trail violations can be reported to the board at support@shoanews.org. Include details like time, location, number and type of vehicles, and pictures of the incidents if available. Please DO NOT post pictures to social media, especially if the subjects are minors. These details can assist the board to cooperate with law enforcement and identify opportunities for educating residents. The Board will collect and review any pictures or information provided, but please remember that we are not law enforcement, and reporting unsafe or illegal activity directly to the authorities ensures a timely response.
Thank you for your attention, cooperation, and care for our community.
Warm regards,
Sleepy Hollow Owner’s Association Board
